Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to Privacy
At Filevoid, privacy is not just a feature, it's our foundation. We built Filevoid on the principle that your files are yours alone, and we've designed our entire system to ensure we cannot access your data even if we wanted to.
What Information We Collect
Optional Email Address
When you create an account, you may optionally provide an email address. This email is:
- Used solely for billing reminders and account notifications
- Encrypted at rest in our database
- Never shared with third parties
- Never used for marketing purposes
- Completely optional; you can use Filevoid without providing any email
Account Data
We store the following minimal account information:
- A randomly generated account ID (not personally identifiable)
- Your encrypted secret (hashed, not stored in plain text)
- Plan tier and expiration date
- File metadata (names, sizes, upload dates) - encrypted
Payment Information
Payment processing is handled by Stripe (for card payments) and cryptocurrency payment processors. We do not store your credit card numbers or full payment details. For cryptocurrency payments, we only record the transaction hash for verification purposes.
What We Don't Collect
- We don't require or store your real name
- We never send your file names, folder names, or search terms to any third party — they stay in your browser
- We don't link analytics data to your account ID, so no third party can tie usage back to a specific vault
- We don't sell your data or use it for advertising profiles beyond measuring our own campaigns
- We can't collect the contents of your files — they are encrypted on your device before they reach us
Analytics and Cookies
We use third-party analytics and advertising tools to understand how the site is used and which campaigns bring people here. These tools set cookies and receive your IP address and basic device and browser information. The services we use are:
- Google Analytics 4 – product usage and performance measurement
- Google Ads and X (Twitter) Ads – conversion tracking for our advertising
- PostHog (EU hosted) – product analytics and error monitoring
We deliberately limit what these tools receive. Analytics events describe the shape of an action, never its content — for example "a 10-100 MB PDF was uploaded in 4.2 seconds" or "a search returned 3 results", never the file name or the search term. Share and public file URLs are redacted before they are sent, so a share token never reaches a third party. We do not set a user ID, so analytics sessions are not joined to your account.
If you would rather send nothing at all, any standard content blocker or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on will stop these scripts from loading. Filevoid works normally with them blocked.
End-to-End Encryption
All files uploaded to Filevoid are encrypted on your device before transmission using AES-256-GCM encryption. Each file is encrypted with a unique key derived from your secret. This means:
- We cannot access, read, or decrypt your files
- We cannot recover your files if you lose your secret
- Even if our servers were compromised, your encrypted files would remain secure
- No government, court order, or third party can compel us to decrypt your files because we literally cannot
AI Training
We do not and will never use your files to train AI models or machine learning systems. Your encrypted files are stored securely and remain inaccessible to any automated processing systems.
Data Retention
Your files and account data are retained for as long as your plan is active. When your plan expires:
- You have a grace period to add more time and retain access to your files
- After the grace period, your encrypted files are permanently deleted
- All account data is permanently deleted. We cannot recover your account or files after deletion
Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information. Data leaves our systems in only two cases:
- Payment processing information shared with our payment processors (Stripe) to complete your transaction
- Anonymous usage and error data shared with the analytics and monitoring providers listed under "Analytics and Cookies" above
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access all data associated with your account
- Delete your account and all associated data at any time
- Export your files at any time
- Remove or update your optional email address
Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- TLS/SSL encryption for all data in transit
- AES-256-GCM encryption for all files at rest
- Secure key derivation using industry-standard algorithms
- Regular security audits and updates
- Isolated storage infrastructure
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email (if provided) or through a notice in the application. Continued use of Filevoid after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
